Week 19

(5/19 – 5/25)
Last week when we took Pierson to the doctor we asked him about when to start Pierson on rice cereal (since Pierson is 4 months and a lot of the books say you can start foods at 4 months). The doctor told us that Pierson would let us know when he was ready… he would start not being fully satisfied with just the milk. Well the Sunday night before Pierson drank 9 oz (for those of you who don’t know that A LOT!!! And he normally has 6 oz when he has a bottle!). I thought it might just be a one time thing… maybe he was growing or just needed a little more. Well Monday the daycare called and said he’d been crying for a while and they couldn’t calm him down so I went to see him and got him calmed down and decided maybe this was him letting me know he was ready to try rice cereal. So Drew went to the store and bought 3 different kinds of rice cereal… we hadn’t researched the best kind so he bought all 3 brands that were at the store and decided we could test them out (he’s such a good dad!!). Monday night he ended up falling asleep pretty early and then when he woke up again we figured it was too late to try cereal for the first time so we waited until Tuesday. The first time didn’t go so well… He took maybe 2 spoons and screamed… and screamed. He was not having it. We decided to try again the next day… same thing. And the next day… same thing. And every day since we try each evening and he’s just not digging the whole rice cereal thing. We’ve tried making it with more liquid, making it thicker, making it with water, making it with breastmilk, etc… Anyway we make it doesn’t seem to matter. We go back to the doctor on the 29th so we’re just going to see what the doctor says. I think he’s ready for something more… but he’s just not liking the rice cereal… we shall see :-)
Well Friday night Drew, Pierson, and I went out to dinner… Pierson slept the whole time and Drew and I had a great time chatting :-) Saturday I got a call from my sister and she and her friend Heidi decided to come to town to visit so we got to see them! It’s always so fun when Aunt Christi comes to visit… and now we get her 2 weekends in a row! Yeah!! Sunday afternoon one of my best friends, Britney, who owns THREE dance studios had her recital for her studio here in town. I took pictures and helped video tape the show and her girls did awesome… she’s such a talented teacher!!! And one of my other best friends, Hollye, came to town for the recital so we got to see her, too. I love it when the girls come to town!!! Sunday afternoon Drew, Pierson, and I went out to my parents for a cookout with my family and Drew’s. It was lots of fun… Pierson always has so much fun hanging out with our families!!
Trying rice cereal... this picture is deceiving... right afterwards he screamed :-)

They painted with their hands and feet at daycare this week... Drew picked him up that day and when I got home from work it was already on the fridge :-) His very first piece of artwork for the fridge!!!

Pierson sitting up on the couch... holding his teddy bear! (this is one of the only ones the he wasn't eating his teddy bear!)

We set up a new toy for Pierson... he sits in one part and can stand and walk around a little table that has all sorts of things to play with. His feet just BARELY touch the floor so he can't quite walk around in it yet... but he's so close! This was one of the first times in it... but now he gets really excited and pushes all the buttons!

This is an activity mat that we just got out... he LOVES it! It has all sorts of toys that hang down for him to grab... he's really learning his hand/eye coordination and it's so fun to watch him try to grab at things and bring them to his mouth!

Pierson hanging out with Aunt Christi!

Me and my precious little man!

I bought him this hat so we could take him outside over Memorial weekend... it's just too cute on him! And of course it's cammo!

Aunt Christi flipped up the sides of the hat and it was cracking us up!

Week 18

(5/12 – 5/18)

A busy week with surprisingly very few pictures… I don’t know what got into me this week! Well the week before Pierson was not feeling too great on and off and on Monday we took him to the doctor to figure out what was going on. The doctor said that everything looked healthy to him… there was a little fluid behind his right ear, but it was moving around so he wasn’t concerned. I guess we were glad that he didn’t find anything, but sometimes you just want there to be a reason your little one isn’t feeling very well. We took him back to the daycare after the appointment and I believe that started the downhill slope to feeling better… he seemed to get better and better each day! Yeah! However since he hasn’t felt up to par lately he’s gone back to not sleeping through the night. He goes down pretty early in the evenings, but it never fails he’s up at least once in the middle of the night (he only eats once in the middle of the night… but occasionally he wakes up more than just once for a bit). This makes getting up early for work every day not the easiest… but we’re making it :-) So these next few pictures are quite deceiving… considering some of the only pictures I took this week were of him sleeping!

Well one of Drew’s best friends, Nick, is engaged to one of my best friends, Jill, (yes, so fun!!) and on Friday night we went to a wedding shower for them here in town with all the ‘adults.’ Then Saturday we dropped little man P off at my parents’ house and Drew and I headed to OKC for a ‘kids’ shower for Nick and Jill. I just wasn’t quite ready to leave Pierson all night long, so we went down in the afternoon and stayed at the shower until around 11 or 11:30 and then headed back. We got to my parents around 1:45 in the morning and stayed the night at their house. I guess Pierson decided he missed us and was ready to see us so he woke up at 3:00 to eat… then again at 7:00 in the morning for good… we were exhausted!!! But he is always in the best mood in the mornings so it makes it a little easier to get up :-)
I was awful and didn’t even take a single picture in OKC so I decided to put a picture of the lovely bride-and-groom-to-be that I took last fall. I got to go along with the real photographers on the engagement photo shoot… they let me pretend I was a professional too! It was so fun! (and of course they are super easy subjects!!)

The wedding showers were so fun! We can't wait for the big day Nick & Jill!!

Happy 4 Months Pierson!

Well our little man is 4 months old! It has gone by way too fast!! He brightens my day every moment I’m with him!

I haven’t taken his 4 month pictures yet so this silly video will have to do for now… hopefully I’ll post his 4 month pictures this weekend.

This is a video of Drew messing with Pierson with his pacifier… it just cracked me up!

Drew, Pierson, and the Paci...

Week 17 & Happy Mother's Day

Well our little man is growing so much! He is getting more and more coordination with his hands and it's so fun to watch him. When I'm getting ready in the mornings I will put him in his bouncy seat in the room with him and give him toys and he has learned to pick them up and of course they go straight to his mouth. He has even started taking his pacifier out of his mouth and playing with it. He's also babbling more and more and it's so fun to listen to him. One morning this week he woke up and I just laid there in bed for about 20 minutes listening to him babble before I went and got him out of his bassinet... I was cracking up! And on Mother's Day I got the best present ever when he giggled for me a few times!!
I went by to see Pierson at lunch most days during the week. I keep thinking I'll try to work out or do other things at lunch... but I just miss him so much while I'm at work that I just have to go see him :-) Friday night we went to dinner with our friends Courtney and Josh... who will be having Pierson's little friend this December... we can't wait!!! And Saturday we just hung out with Pierson. Pierson ended up getting really sick on Saturday and throwing up... all over the place. It was kind of scary! He only did it once and seemed to feel better after that... and never ran a fever. Then Sunday we went to lunch at Drew's parents' house and he was a little fussy over there and then a while after we got home he started crying... really loud and really hard. We tried everything to console him... changing him, burping him, pacifier and bottle (wouldn't take either), putting on a blanket, taking off his clothes, putting him in his vibrating swing, then in the bouncy chair, giving him toys, giving him a bath... everything! Finally after a couple of hours of him crying we called the nurse on call and she said it could possibly be an ear infection and to give him tylenol every 4 hours... about 30 minutes after that he ate and then fell asleep for the night. (apparently he didn't realize it was still Mother's Day and it was supposed to be a relaxing day for mom) :-) (We took him to the doctor Monday and no ear infection... but now he seems to have a cold... bummer!)

I just love his spiky hair in the picture above and below!

Swinging in his swing on Sunday when he didn't feel to well :-(

Cuddling up to his daddy!

And the two proud grandmas!

My First Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful first mother's day on Sunday. I woke up and fed and hung out with Pierson and then I walked out of the room to a plate full of donuts :-) I have been craving donuts for months and every weekend I tell Drew how we should go get donuts but then I always decide we should have something else. Well Drew drove all over town (4 different places) looking for my favorite donut and came home with a whole selection for me. He also got me some Calla Lilly plants and potted them in cute pots to put on our front porch. Those are my favorite flowers! Let's just hope I can keep them alive :-) He also got me a card from him and one from Pierson and they were just so sweet. And Pierson got me an iTunes gift card and told me it was to learn more songs to sing to him because he likes it when I sing to him :-) (it must be because he hasn't heard anyone else sing... because when he does he'll realize he's gotten gypped with his momma's vocals)! We had a great lunch at Drew's parents' house with both of our parents, his sister, and his grandma.

And being my first mother's day I thougth I'd share a few things...

1) I am so truly blessed to have my precious little boy and I never realized the pure joy I would experience becoming a mom! There's nothing like it the entire world and I love every minute of it. I have the most wonderful, supportive husband and this adventure of parenthood has been amazing. I am so excited about raising our little man together... I just love my two boys!

2) Being a mom has made me realize how blessed I am by my own mom. She is so dear to me and such a great role model... I only hope to be the kind of mom to Pierson that she's been to me. I know the unconditional love I have for my little guy is the same she has had for me all my life and I am truly blessed! Thank you mom for being you! I love you!

3) I am also very thankful for Drew's mom... Not only did she raise the most caring, loving, wonderful son... she is also a blessing to me as well. And I don't know a lot about raising boys quite yet, so I know she'll be a great source of knowledge with raising Pierson :-) Thanks for being a wonderful mother-in-law! I love you!

And finally... happy mother's day to all you momma's!

Week 16

Not a whole lot to update on this week... just watching our little man grow and do new things all the time. We are just having so much fun seeing how much he changes constantly! Monday Pierson was still a little under-the-weather from last weekend and the daycare called and said he was miserable so I went and got him and took him home around noon on Monday. He took a super long nap and got some good rest and seemed to have beat his cold (or allergies... whichever it was). We had Drew's parents and sister over for dinner one night last week for Gogo's birthday. And my mom left for Thailand last week for a 10 day trip... we've talked to her a couple times and she's just having the BEST time! We sure miss her though! And this past weekend we didn't really do anything at all... just hung out with Pierson! I just love this little guy!!!
Smiling his cute smile!

Trying to shove his fist in his mouth :-)

He has definitely discovered his little hands... he LOVES putting them in his mouth... it seems like everything goes straight to his mouth these days! I wonder if teeth are coming soon???

Is this belly not the cutest thing ever! I LOVE IT!!!! And look at that roll on his thigh!

This is the precious little face I get to see every day!

Hanging out with Aunt Megan!

So Friday night Pierson and I were exhausted from the week... and we both fell asleep on the couch at 7:00! Drew woke us up at midnight, Pierson ate, and then we went back to sleep until 7:30 Saturday morning!! Look how Pierson was sleeping on my chest... looks super uncomfortable but he was OUT! And I just love his little diaper-bootie!

Have a fabulous week!

And over he goes...

No he didn't roll over... but he was sitting all by himself on the couch and everything was fine...
And then he sneezed and lost his balance... and here's what happened next :-)
