Cancer SUCKS!

It's been quite a crazy past few weeks...

One of my very best friends, Laura, lost her sweet mom Susan to cancer last Wednesday.  They had just found out she had cancer the day before Christmas Eve and then recently had found out it was terminal.  Susan was the most amazing person with such an amazing heart for the Lord. She was so giving and caring and always doing things for others.  She was a high school counselor and she changed the lives of so very many students in such a positive way.  She continues to inspire me to be a better wife, mother, and friend! I continue to be in awe of the way she was always thinking of others.  She will definitely be missed tremendously!!!!
Read some of the stories about how she's impacted the lifes of so many on this CaringBrdige site,

And read a neat piece that the Tulsa World did on Susan.

Please pray for my friend Laura and her sweet husband, Jonathan, her sister Sarah, and their dad Ed.  I know they could use your prayers over the weeks, months, and years to come.

We also found out a few weeks ago that Drew's dad, Mike, has cancer.  He has cancer in his esophagus.  He spent the past week and a half down at MD Anderson in Houston and started chemo there this past Friday.  He'll be traveling back and forth between here and Houston ever 2 weeks for chemotherapy for 5 rounds.  Next he'll spend 6 weeks straight in Houston doing chemo and radiation 5 days a week.  Then after a quick recovery time back home he'll go back to Houston for surgery to remove part of his esophagus.  He's got a long road ahead of him... but he's supported by so many people praying for him and he's determined to beat this!  Please continue to pray for him.
Here's a picture of him during his first round of chemo... he's such a trooper!

Kari & Chris' wedding

One of my pledge sisters from college (and roommate from our Senior year) got married the first weekend in Feburary.  Drew, Pierson, and I went down for it and it was so fun to see all the girls! I hadn't seen some of them in a really long time!

Shoveling Snow and other random January pics

I've never really understood why people shovel their driveways... I mean if you can still drive over the snow and get out then what's the point.  (especially if you park in the garage!)  However... my husband thinks differently and feels the need to clear our driveway when it snows.  We've had a ton of snow over the past month and a half and this time Pierson decided he wanted to help, too...

Well you can't work the whole time... gotta have some fun, too!

Wheeee!!

Back to work...

All done!

Oh my goodness...
Can I just say that I'm not super excited that Pierson can unlock the deadbolt on the front and back doors now!  We're going to have to get additional locks so he can't just walk right out of the house!

Pierson's birthday party

January was a crazy month for us... as well as for both of our families so for Pierson's birthday party we decided to have our families over for a birthday breakfast to celebrate.  It was actually really fun!  Drew made sausage, eggs, biscuits, waffles, and pancakes... and I made a yummy fruit salad.  We had both of our parents, Drew's sister, my Aunt Kay, and Drew's grandma.  Pierson had a great time!

Oh how I love this little guy!!!

Thank you all so much for helping us celebrate his birthday!  We are so incredibly blessed to have such amazing families!!

Fun with cousins

We celebrated Christmas with my cousin and his family several weeks after Christmas.  My parents and Drew, Pierson, and I went down to their house and had a really good time.  My cousin's 2 kids are Max (age 6) and Kyra (age 4) and Pierson LOVES to play with them and try to do whatever they are doing.  Pierson had so much fun with them!
They have a really fun jungle gym/play house and Pierson and Max had a great time playing on it!

Max climbing really high!

Pierson swinging on the big kid swing... I think this might have been his first time to really swing on a big swing (swing without a front and back and lay for his legs).  He did great!

My dad gave him some big pushes!

He loved it!

And he climbed up the rock wall... with a little help from Pops!

Max helping Pierson hang from the rings... he was so proud of himself... it was really cute!

Happy little kiddo!
