The P Family: Houston Trip (June)

Drew's dad completed his radiation in May and got to come home for a few weeks. He went back to Houston in mid-June for more tests/scans and then had major surgery on June 23 down at MD Anderson. Drew went down on the 23rd and Pierson and I flew down on the 24th. His dad did remarkably well and surprised all the doctors with how fast he recovered post surgery. And anyone that knows Mike knows he's got a great sense of humor and constantly makes people laugh... he didn't let the fact that he'd had major surgery change that... he was still cracking jokes and was such a trooper!

(and since I'm posting this so late... here's an update on how Mike's doing... He was in the hospital for a little over a week after his surgery then came home to finish recuperating. He and Margo have been back down to Houston a few times for follow-up appointments and he continues to get better and better. He got his feeding tube out the beginning of August... earlier than initially expected... and continues to adjust to how things will be... he's done an amazing job and it'll only get better from here on out!)

While we were in Houston we stayed with our good friends the Bakers! They don't live too far from MD Anderson so we would visit Drew's dad during the day and then stay with them and hang out in the evenings. (thanks so much Courtney and Josh for letting us stay with you guys! It's always so good to see you all!)

Pierson and Mason are just shy of a year apart... they played so well together and Pierson had so much fun hanging out with him!

Courtney and Josh invited several friends and their kiddos over for a cookout our last night in Houston. It was so fun to meet some of their friends, watch all the kids run around and play together, and also see some of our other friends, Chris and Jennifer, who also live in Houston. They invited Chris and Jennifer down to their house so we could see them, too, while we were in Houston. Their little boy, Cole, and Pierson used to go to daycare together before they moved to Houston. Pierson was sooooo excited to see his long lost buddy!
