And we’re already through with the 3rd week in September… where has the month gone?? Thursday evening we went out to my parents house for dinner because some family friends were in town… the Sarah Gund and the Jones’ were here. Sarah has a little boy who is exactly 1 years older than Pierson and it’s so fun to see what we have to look forward to in just 1 year. Van was born in January 2007, then Pierson in January 2008, and now Sarah and Jeff’s next child is due January 2009… they’re having a GIRL! It was also so fun to see Tom and Mary while they were in town! Friday evening we hung out with our friends Courtney and Josh. They moved to Houston 2 weeks before Ike hit and came back to town to evacuate from Ike and have been without power the whole time. I’m sure they were ready to have power back as they headed back to Houston on Saturday… however I was secretly hoping they wouldn’t get it back for another week or so… I was enjoying going to lunch with Courtney and getting to hang out :-( On Saturday we had Drew’s company’s picnic in the afternoon and then we went to a wedding for a co-working of mine in the evening. And I guess I have to mention this (at Drew’s request)… the wedding was an outside wedding and I was holding Pierson and we were standing up during the wedding and Pierson… being the total boy/baby that he is… passed some gas. Well it wasn’t that loud, but the lady standing in front of my did hear and turned around. Well at first she looked at my like I was the one that did it… ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?? And then quickly realized it was the little boy I was holding… Drew could NOT quit laughing! BOYS!!!
Well as I’ve probably mentioned before Pierson STILL does not consistently sleep through the night… CRAZY I know... but when he wakes up he just needs his pacifier back in and it’s just been easier to stick it back in and he’s back asleep in 2 seconds. He wakes up usually 1 to 2 times a night and Drew and I take turns getting up. We know that we need to just let him ‘cry it out’ and we keeps saying each weekend that we’ll start it that weekend… because we knew we weren’t going to get a ton of sleep… well we FINALLY decided this was the weekend and went through with it. On Friday night he went to bed around 8:30 and then woke up around 4 and started crying. We turned down the monitor so it wasn’t so loud and he screamed at the top of his lungs for what seems like forever. I think that could be what hell is like (pardon my French) but it was complete torture listening to him scream and not going in to console him or give him his pacifier. I sat up in bed and just stared at the monitor and cried… it was awful! After 34 minutes he finally stopped and I thought he had cried himself to sleep… but he did those “catch up breaths” and woke himself back up and screamed again. After a total of 45 minutes I gave in and went upstairs and put his pacifier in and decided to try again the next night. Saturday night he woke up at 2 and cried off and on for an hour (going to sleep for a little bit at a time a few times) and finally fell back asleep and then woke up again at 5:30. At the 5:30 time I put his pacifier back in because I knew we both needed sleep. We’ll see how tonight goes… hopefully he’ll learn how to fall back asleep on his own in the next 3 or 4 days… but this could be a rough week getting up for work. We’ll see how it goes!
Oh… and I got a new phone today… I got the new iPhone and I love it… it’s so fun! :-)

It looks like they might be wrestling... but actually Van is giving Pierson a hug... too cute!
I am a bad mom and forgot a bottle for Pierson... Sarah had one of Van's sippy cups so we put formula in that and tried it...
Pierson just checked on the end... he never drank out of it. It cut our visit a tiny bit short... but we were about to leave anyway. woops!
Hanging out at his activity table... he loves standing at this thing!
I came home from the store today and Drew and Pierson were napping on the couch... it was too cute!
And playing with his toys in the tub tonight
Have a GREAT week!

I feel sooooooooooo bad for you and Drew and Pierson on the crying it out. Good for you, but I would do the same thing...stare at him and cry. I'm sure it'll work, though, if you keep at it. Good luck! Love the pic with him and Mimi. And I'm JEALOUS for your iphone!!
