Pierson's Birthday Party

We finally had Pierson's birthday party this weekend. We just had a family party this year, but it was oh so fun! Pierson got so many fun things and we had a great time hanging out with family. Here are some pictures!
We'll start with the cake... because that's always the best thing about 1st birthday parties:
Of course I did blue and brown polka dots for the cake... that's kind of been his "theme" this year. It's probably the last time I can do something extra cute... he's getting to the age of more "boyish" stuff :-)

He loved the cake... of course! We had it on a plate... he took a few swipes of the icing and decided he didn't need the plate

By the end we needed Q-tips for all the icing in his nose!

And our little cousin Kyra had so much fun letting Pierson wipe icing all over her face! It was hilarious!

He didn't much care for his "birthday prince" hat

And of course daddy and aunt Christi had to give him a bath in the sink after cake! The best part was when he grabbed the spray nozzle and spayed water all over the counter... oops!

And Pierson is the biggest snuggler after baths! I just love it!

And present time... he got so many neat, fun toys! Our families are too generous!!

And some more pics:

Having fun with Gogo!

No more weekly posts...

So I made it through a year of posting weekly updates! (Granted I sometimes posted 2 or 3 weeks worth at one time... but there is a post for every week) It's been a GREAT way to document things for Pierson's baby book and a fun way to look back and see how much our little man has changed over the past year! However... I think I'll just go to updating when I have pictures to post. Hopefully I'll still post at least every week or so though.... because we all know I take a million pictures a day :-)
So here are some recent pictures (from the past week of course)
This is the typical scene every time Pierson eats... both dogs waiting patiently below for him to drop them some food (which by the way happens way too often these days!)
This was our first time feeding Pierson spaghetti-o's (the Gerber brand)
He's usually a pretty clean eater... Ummmm not so much with this stuff!!

And of course he "cleaned" off his hands by shaking them on the floor... the dogs LOVED it :-)

Just a random pic... but I think he looks WAY older than 1 here!

And we went out one evening last week to visit my mom and grandpa while my dad was out of town. My grandpa lives with my parents every other 2 weeks.

Drew started playing in a basketball league with my friend Megan's husband. Drew hasn't played basketball in so long and kept telling me how bad he was playing and how sore he was. Well we missed the week before but last week I loaded up the stroller and we picked up my friend Megan and we went and walked the track aroung the gym and watched the boys play. I thought Drew looked great out there! And Pierson was fascinated with the game!!!!
A pic from the track on the 2nd floor... Drew is on the orange team (go Pokes!) :-)

And this is the basketball Drew got Pierson for his birthday and he has decided he LOVES playing with it now (maybe it's because he watched his daddy play). He lifts it up and lets it fall out of his hands and then crawls to it and does it again. He entertains himself forever! It's too cute!

My sister was in town this past weekend. She was playing Peek-a-boo behind the couch and Pierson thought it was hilarious! He loves when she is in town!

And Pierson was all ready in his OSU gear to head to his friend Cole's birthday party... however he wasn't feeling all that well and fell asleep an hour early for his nap time :-( Bummer! (Cole, we were so sorry to miss your 1st birthday party... we hope you have a happy happy birthday!) Pierson also missed his friend Jenna's 1st birthday party that same day! These would have been the first parties he would have gone to for kiddo's his same age and it had to be when he wasn't feeling good :-( Maybe it was the 5 teeth he's gotten in 2 weeks... who knows! But Happy birthday Jenna and Cole!!!

Week 53 (1/12 - 1/18)

So our little man turned a year old on Tuesday, January 13th! It's is soooo crazy that it's already been a year! We just celebrated with our little family of 3 on his birthday and then celebrating with the family at a later time. Here are some pictures from the night of his birthday:
He wasn't too sure what to think of the cake at first... it was his first real sweets... after he got a few licks of his fingers with icing on them he realized he just loved it!
And the sugar high eventually set in...
Luckily it didn't last too long... he went to bed at his normal time!

Some pics from opening presents:
Drew picked out a basket ball, football, soccer ball and a dodge ball for him :-)
I went the car/tractor/plane route :-)

My dad stopped by when Pierson was having cake to wish him a happy birthday. He let Pierson wipe icing all over him! :-)

Drew's parents sent Pierson this bouquet of balloons to his daycare :-) Too fun!!

He was amazing at his daddy's talent of spinning the basketball on his finger! (but notice the remote in his hand... he held it the ENTIRE time he opened presents!)

On Friday I took the day off and Pierson and I went and got his one year pictures made by my friend Betsy (Gregory Photography) and then P-man and I just hung out the rest of the day. I love taking days off to just hang out with him!

With a year comes a few new stepping stones... Pierson no longer gets a bottle at daycare. We're working on weaning him from the bottle to a cup so he now gets a bottle when he wakes up and before he goes to bed and that's it. We'll slowly take those 2 away, too. He started on cow's milk and seems to be handling it just great.
Having a bottle with dad!

Teeth Update:
So I mentioned that Pierson finally got his first tooth recently... well he got his 2nd tooth last week on Thursday and then his top 2 teeth popped through on Sunday! He went from no teeth to 4 teeth in about a week. Poor guy!!
Now that he has real teeth we use a big kid tooth brush to brush his teeth!

And we finally got a gate for the stairs because Pierson takes off up the stairs every chance he gets... this way if we're not right on his toes he can't go up. When we first put it up he just stood there and hollered at it :-)

And some more pictures:
Playing with his little fire engine at my parents house

One of my best friends, Laura, was in town this weekend. She came by and we got to just chit chat and hang out for a while. It's always so fun to see her! She's such a wonderful friend!!!

Pierson had tons of fun hanging out with her too!

And we finally decided to install the cabinet locks on the kitchen cabinets... Pierson was fascinated with the drill! He wanted to help his daddy out with his little project... it was the cutest thing!!!!
Helping daddy on our first little project together!

Week 52 (oh my gosh 52 weeks!!!) (1/5 - 1/11)

So this week was dress up week at Pierson’s school… Monday was PJ Day – Tuesday was hat day – Wednesday was sports day – Thursday was favorite character day – and Friday was MisMatch day… Pierson was sick on Wednesday… so he wore his OSU outfit on Thursday and we just said his “favorite character” was an OSU football player :-)
PJ Day

Hat day!

I had to hold his hands to distract him from pulling off his hat :-)

On Tuesday night around 10:30 Pierson had been asleep for 2 ½ hours or so and all of a sudden we heard him start screaming… we ran upstairs and I grabbed him right as he threw up ALL OVER me/the floor. He had thrown up all over his crib and the wall before and must have just caught his breath enough to scream out. It was all over the place… poor guy! He ended up throwing up several more times throughout the night so I just stayed up and slept on the cough with him on my chest because I didn’t want to lay him back down and have him choke. I finally took him back up to his crib at 5 in the morning since he’d gone a couple of hours without throwing up. Pretty sure he still woke up around 7:30 and seemed perfectly fine! WHAT?!?? I was so tired!!! He and I stayed home together Wednesday and I swear you couldn’t tell that he had been so sick the night before!! :-)
My dad came by to check on him in the afternoon to make sure he was feeling better

Since he missed sports day while he was sick... we made his "favorite character" be an OSU football player :-) Afterall... we don't let him watch TV so it's not like he knows any other characters :-)

Go Pokes!!!

MisMatch day - Friday
Drew ended up getting the same thing Pierson had on Friday so on Friday night Pierson and I went to pick up some soup for Drew... we went right when I picked Pierson up... and I wasn't really thinking about what he was wearing... well I couldn't let my son be seen in this outfit so I zipped his coat up ALL THE WAY so you couldn't see any of his shirt :-) I know eventually when he starts wanting to dress himself I'll have to deal with these crazy outfits... but for now when people know I'm the one dressin him... we'll make his outfits cute :-)

Other pics from the week:
He got this shopping cart for Christmas and just LOVES pushing it all over the place!

Playing with his stacking blocks from Aunt Christi

And his fun building blocks from cousins Gary, Kim, Kyra, and Max

Loving on his Glow Worm

Well since Pierson will be a year old on Tuesday we decided to switch out his car seats... he's be in a big boy carseat in my car (just facing backwards)... but he's still been in his infant carrier car seat the whole time in Drew's car. We ordered another big boy car seat and installed it and faced them both forward in our cars:
Drew had to set the height of the staps first... Pierson had fun sitting in his new seat

And his old carseat quickly became a fun toy to play with in the living room... he played with it for almost an hour!!

First time facing forwards in his car seat! Yes 2 days early... but we drove safe!
(we just ran to wal-mart)
